Section One: Title, objective, responsibilities

Title or working title of project (in the form of a question, commission or design brief)   How can the words of JRR Tolkien and the media adaptations act as a stimulus for solo dance?       Project objectives (eg, what is the question you want to answer? What do you want to learn how to do? What do you want to find out?):   Can media text be used as a stimulus for solo dance? I want to learn how to create dance from a different kind of stimulus and also learn some more about the works of Tolkien in the process.           If it is a group project, what will your responsibilities be?
Section Two: Reasons for choosing this project
Reasons for choosing the project (eg, links to other subjects you are studying, personal interest, future plans, knowledge/skills you want to improve, why the topic is important):   It is linked to media which I'd like to take at University. I'm also looking at the language that Tolkien created which is linked to English Language that I'm taking. I have always loved the soundtrack to ‘Lord of the Rings’ and have wanted to create a dance to it.
Section Three: Activities and timescales
Activities to be carried out during the project (eg, research, development and analysis of ideas, writing, data collection, numerical analysis, rehearsal techniques, production meetings, production of final outcome, administration, evaluation, preparing for the presentation, etc):   Research the details of ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’.   Experiment with ideas.   Create a dance.   Create a slideshow/PowerPoint for set and action/reaction.     December 2nd show the work so far.   January 13th show work so far.   Week beginning 24th February final performance.	How long this will take:       Over Summer.   1 week.   4/6 weeks.   2 weeks.
Milestone one: Have music and choreography.     Target date (set by tutor-assessor): 21/10/13     Milestone two: Have a set slideshow with film and pictures.     Target date (set by tutor-assessor): 18/11/13
Section Four: Resources
What resources will you need for your research, write up and presentation (eg, libraries, books, journals, equipment, rehearsal space, technology and equipment, venue, physical resources, finance):   ‘Lord of the Rings’ appendices, books and the internet for research, YouTube to find music and video clips. PowerPoint to make slideshow. Rehearsal space. Venue and technology to perform.             What your areas of research will cover?   Finding a stimulus from a non-dance base source.
